Interview with Cindy Makela of California Coast Naturals Olive Oil

After I finished reading Extra Virginity which exposes all the crap going on in the Olive oil industry, (you should read it, it’s fascinating) I had the fortune of meeting a number of people in the Makela family who own California Coast Naturals, an excellent grower and producer of extra virgin olive oil and other olive products.  For many years I have carried only Bariani Olive oil, harvested and produced by Emanuel Bariani and I love his excellent extra virgin olive oil.  At the 2018 Natural Products EXPO in Anaheim California I met some of the Makela family and sampled their oil and their olives.  I immediately placed an order for a case of their oil so I will now carry two fantastic (and legitimate) Extra Virgin olive oils.  When I phoned the orchard to ask some questions, I realized there were still many things I had to learn about the growing, harvesting and production process and Cindy Makela agreed to a taped interview so you can all learn what I just learned.
